Columbia Gorge Community College has been selected as one of 25 institutions to be a part of the Achieving the Dream National Reform Network.  It's a national non-governmental reform network for student success.  As part of the network CGCC will analyze institutional strengths, problem areas, and achievement gaps.  The school will work with other Achieving the Dream institutions, and receive assistance from experienced practitioners in using data to identify problems, set priorities, and measure progress toward student success.

The Pierce College District, which comprises Pierce College Puyallup and Pierce College Fort Steilacoom, recently was inducted into the ranks of the Achieving the Dream nonprofit organization — a compendium of 200 colleges nationwide dedicated to closing the achievement gap at colleges and increasing student success.“We are excited,” said Michele Johnson, chancellor of the Pierce College District. “We care about what happens to our students, and this is just one more opportunity."

Not wanting to back down from a challenge, Sinclair aims to increase graduation rates among low-income students and students of color through the Achieving the Dream initiative.“Achieving the Dream is a challenge to colleges like Sinclair,” said Helen Grove, senior vice president and provost. “It is a challenge to us to do things differently to help our students succeed. It’s not about blaming students, but looking at how we can change our policies and practices to help more of our students learn and demonstrate what they know.”
